Viaplay wanted us to build a campaign around The Olympics in Rio 2016 that would distinguish them from the competition and the traditional, expected cinematic slow-motion shots of athletes in action. The brief was to capture the very essence of Rio de Janeiro, while staying true to the spirit and dignity of the Olympic Games. We hooked up with music producer Marcus Price to create a baile funk soundtrack using real sport sounds as the foundation of the track. Actual footage from previous Olympic Games featuring close-ups of real athletes performing their sports was edited tightly to the beat of the track, resulting in some very visual and energetic films that truly captured the essential sports moments as well as the joy, the nerves, the disappointments and the expectations that define the Games.
